Join South Coast Sailing Adventures as we race down the coast to the Texas border!! The bi-annual, 240-mile Race to the Border from Galveston Island to South Padre Island will start on Saturday, June 6th, and SCSA will join in on the great adventure with two of our most nimble regatta vessels. We will be pre-boarding and provisioning the boats on Friday, June 5th, and will depart for Galveston early on Saturday morning. The race will take about two days, and will build many skills, from offshore navigation to sailing at night. We will be staying in South Padre for an additional two days in order to participate in the Bon Fire party on the beach on the 8th of June, and the Bon Voyage party on the 11th. We are tentatively scheduled to arrive back in Kemah on Saturday, June 13. Weather may delay this arrival to Sunday.
Everyone is invited to participate as a crew member! We will be offering ASA 106 Advanced Coastal Cruising during our nine-day voyage to South Padre Island and back, but you don’t need to earn the certification to participate! Prerequisites for ASA 106 include ASA 103, 104, & 105. If you don’t have the 105 yet, there is still one more chance to earn it during the weekend of May 30-31.
